Bayside Anglers held its 13th annual Family Fishing Festival. Great weather and just over 60 children registered, the rail next to the pond was full of happy and eager Jr Fishermen and Fisherwomen cheered on by their families. Thank you to all that turned out and made this another great event. Their where lessons on baiting the hooks, using the tackle, and releasing the fish to fight another day. Unfortunately not as many shouts of “Fish On!” were heard from all quarters as we would have hoped but some nice fish where caught. DEC's Melissa& her assistant Nim had a great table set up with Fish identification, Rules & Regulations and more. As usual, local bait shops are ready to provide a helping hand First Fishing of Flushing supplied all the bait and some nice giveaways., and thanks go out to The_Angler party boat of Howard Beach came through once again, donating passes for a free half-day fishing trip on the boat for each participant/child accompanied by an adult. In addition to giveaways and raffle prizes, first, second, and third place trophies are handed out for the largest fish.  All fish are quickly and safely returned to the pond.

A special thanks goes out to Councilman Tony Avella for his continued support and for coming down and helping out once again!

This year the US Coast Guard Auxiliary 'Fort Totten 12-08' - Flotilla Commander presented us the Bayside Anglers with a most generous Certificate of Appreciation for BAG's "Vigorous efforts and successful promotions of Marine Environmental Conservation"
